Requirements For Paid HVAC Service Technician Internship

  • Enrolled or to be enrolled in an HVAC associates degree program.
  • A high school diploma or GED certificate is required.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license with no major traffic violation, suspensions, or DUI’s in previous 5 years.
  • No current or pending Workman Compensation Claims.
  • Must complete background check, drug screen, physical conditions of employment job screen, and team interview as a condition of employment.
  • Good work ethic and the desire to advance both professionally and personally.
  • Neat appearance accompanied with good listening and communication skills in order to communicate clearly with customers, fellow technicians, support staff, and supervisory personnel.
  • Ability to get along with and work well with people on all levels.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft
  • Office Software and working proficiency with computers and hand-held devices such as smartphone, ipad, etc.
  • Desire and ability to learn how to use and interpret diagnostic and service equipment including but not limited to volt ohm meter, amp clamp, manometer, refrigeration manifold gauges, vacuum gauges, combustion analyzer, reclaim machine, nitrogen regulator, vacuum pump, digital thermometer, air hood, and pitot tube traverse.
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions on rooftops, outside of buildings, and residences, crawlspaces, attics, and other types of confined spaces.
  • Perform physical work that requires the regular use of fingers, hands, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Regularly lift or move up to 10lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move more that 50lbs.
  • Work from either a step ladder, extension ladder, or man lift with no fear of heights.
  • Demonstrate an on-going willingness to continue education through available company and industry sponsored training.

Service Technician Internship Financial Terms and Incentives:

  • Air Comfort, Inc. Service Technician Internship is designed as a “earn as you learn” program.
  • Air Comfort, Inc. requires that intern/student commits to a four (4) year employment program as a means for the company to help offset some of the costs the company invests in the intern/student.
  • With combined HVAC course study, field training, and job experience it is the desire of the company that the right candidate can turn out of this program in 2-1/2 years or less with an HVAC Associate of Applied Science Degree and be employed by Air Comfort, Inc. as a high-level Apprentice II or Journeyman I technician.
  • HVAC Associate of Applied Science Degree typically requires a total of 60 credits per program of study.
  • *All tuition, credit hour, or student loans fees are the responsibility of the student/intern.
  • Must complete course study with a 2.5 grade point average or higher.
  • It is desired that intern/student receive their A.A.S. Degree in 5 semesters or less.
  • Air Comfort, Inc. understands that sometimes there can be extenuating circumstances beyond anyone’s control. In those cases, when delays occur in the course study, both parties will agree on the completion schedule of the A.A.S. Degree.
  • The educational component of this program is important to Air Comfort, Inc. and our intent is that this HVAC program of study be completed.
  • Intern will be expected to average 30 hours per work week.
  • Intern will be hired by Air Comfort, Inc. as an Apprentice I service technician.
  • 10 hours per work week will be reserved for HVAC Associates Degree course study.
  • Air Comfort, Inc. will work with successful candidate with work hours to support course study times.
  • Intern will be paid at a wage rate of $18.00/hour, $540.00 per 30-hour work week.
  • Upon successful completion of the HVAC A.A.S. Degree Program and hiring as a full-time technician at Air Comfort, Inc., Intern/Employee will be eligible for “Tuition” reimbursement. Air Comfort, Inc. will reimburse Intern/Employee for actual education tuition and fees incurred to complete the HVAC A.A.S. Degree Program. The reimbursement will be paid in equal payments each bi-weekly pay period over a two (2) year period, up to a maximum of $5,200.00 annually and $10,400.00 in total. Intern/Employee will forfeit any remaining reimbursements upon termination of employment prior to the end of the four (4) year employment program.
